I'm back, for half a second anyway!

So a lot has happened since January, I have been cooking, but more like cooking a bun in the oven!  Alexander Andrew Orion was born on July 9th!  We're so pleased with him here at the frogpond we could just bust!    I probably won't be posting here much still, but I have hopes that one day I will indeed get back here and post regularly once again!

In which Monday is upon us yet again or a recounting of the weekends cookery.

Here we are again at Monday.   Sometimes, it seems like Monday comes more than it's fair share.   I've tried to take this up with Monday, but it never listens.    I argue passionately that surely we must have skipped from Saturday to Monday and surely we are due our Sunday but to no avail.  It just smirks at me as if to tell me "Ha! I bested Sunday in a poker match and took it's place this week but it's already taken it's holiday so you'll never get it back".  As I said Monday never listens.

So this morning was very extra Mondayish  and with Monday being extra pleased at itself just made it worse.   I didn't feel like getting up to the alarm and Memblers was markedly less enthusiastic then I.   But all the same he was seen off to his day at work with his kisses and a ham salad sandwich for breakfast and here I am sharing my dismay at Monday's bad behavior.

So I shall recount the food we made over the weekend because it was very lovely.   First was a lasagna.  That was Friday night.  Cheesy, warm, bubbly with all it's lovely rich flavors of the pasta sauce, ricotta cheese and mozzarella and provolone all layered together with it's lasagna noodles.   We had on the side a Greek salad, with lettuce tomato, cucumber, feta cheese and black olives and a dressing made of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and oregano.   To compliment those dishes I made a favorite bread recipe for crusty french bread, and trying to be healthier I made with whole wheat flour swapped out for half the white flour.  It was hearty and delicious. It was quite the delicious meal.

Then, on what I had originally thought was Sunday but looking back now I'm quite sure it must have been Saturday, we made our favorite meal, General Tso's Chicken.    If you want to make General Tso's chicken as amazing as ours, this is the link to follow.   It is a video by a fantastic chef named Kai and he will tell you exactly how to make a dish that is the equal of any offering of any restaurant.  We love Kai at The Frog Pond :-)   We made a triple batch, three pounds of chicken covered in the lovely sweet and savory sauce.   Now, Memblers always adds in some chili paste, but I think he's going to be banned from adding the chili paste in the future for while it was very good, my lips and face were tingling by the time I finished my portion.  We had Calrose rice on the side, lovely sticky short grain rice.    It was sublime.

Now I must say the only BAD thing about making food this amazing is it ruins one for eating out.    A small price to pay I know but sometimes one does want to eat out without thinking "We could make this dish better and chaper at home".  Of course my brain smarts back "sure you could, but then you'd have to make it and even worse you'd have to clean up from making it so shut up and enjoy your food".

But this Monday we are still enjoying the fruits of our weekend labors and they are delicious!

Thanks for reading and Bright Blessings, and Good Eatings to you all.

There and back again......

So I thought I'd start blogging again.  Since I have a a string of abandoned and neglected blogs I thought I'd resurrect my latest abandoned blog rather then start a new one, so here we are back at Frog of Green Cookery, except it's not going to be focused on cooking soley anymore, it'll just be a general bloggy blog of the goings on in the Frog Pond, where Frog of Green (Myself, Tad, your gracious host) and my adoring husband, Memblers, reside!   I know, I can tell you're excited.

Other residents of the Frog Pond are our two feline overlords, Squeaky and Bubba.

So, now you naturally inquire, what is going on at The Frog Pond?   Well right now I'm working on reclaiming The Frog Pond from the holidays.    The paraphernalia of which is still scattered about the house, though it has been moved about in an effort to consolidate it for it's eventual putting away.   The quaint little Holiday Village on the entertainment center (which is actually a Town of Terror, but I'll tell more of that later) has ornaments piled in the middle of it, the lights from the tree are wrapped up and sitting in a pile on the chair beside the sparkly silver garland, the wrapping paper container is still beside the couch.  The tree itself is finally disassembled and waiting to go back to it's dormant state in the basement.     I'm chipping away at it slowly but surely.

In other news, Memblers went to Magfest (Music And Gaming Festival) and had a great time but brought home a souvenir, a nasty head cold that's turned into a nasty chest cold.  I'm hoping he doesn't share this with me, keeping fingers crossed.   I'm also hoping he feels better soon, he's never sick and is quite miserable right now.

Since this is a lot of words for this early in the morning I'm going to sign off now.  Thanks for reading and I'll have more posts for the enjoyment of all who wander by very soon.
